Dair'Innov2022 aims to present the innovations related to the dairy farming sustainability and cow welfare, especially the ones existing on practice.
List of Topics
This conference will cover 8 different topics:
-
Topic 1: Impact of housing and environmental factors on animal welfare and health: This topic aims to show innovations in research related to housing and environmental factors which can influence the well-being of dairy cows. For instance, climate changes and inappropriate housing equipment reinforce the heat stress felt by dairy cows.
-
Topic 2: Auxiliary traits used in breeding to improve animal resilience and their environmental fingerprint: This topic aims to show innovation in breeding selection programs based on auxiliary traits to improve animal resilience and their environmental fingerprint. Indeed, it is often unfeasible to collect a sufficient amount of reference records directly related to animal resilience and its environmental fingerprint. Therefore the use of auxiliary traits is beneficial.
-
Topic 3: Sensor technology linked to animal welfare, health, and environmental impact: This topic aims to show innovations in on-farm sensor technology (Precision Livestock Farming) to improve animal welfare and health or its environmental impact. Such sensors installed on cows or in the automatic milking system can be used to monitor the production or behavior of cows in order to propose early warnings.
-
Topic 4: Data integration and decision support tools for improving animal health, welfare, efficiency and sustainability: A large amount of data can be collected directly on farms by the farmers themselves or through collaborations with the Dairy Herd Improvement organizations. The interest of those records can be increased by merging data collected from different sources, at different scales (animal vs herd), and/or at different frequencies in order to develop new management tools. This topic aims to show innovations in the development of management tools based on data integration and the solutions found to solve the data confidentiality issue.
-
Topic 5: Advanced use of technologies linked to animal welfare, health and environmental impact: Compared to Topic 3, the current topic aims to show innovation in the use of information that is not directly collected on-farm like milk mid-infrared spectrum, satellite image, etc in order to develop a new tool allowing to improve the animal health and welfare and its environmental fingerprint.
-
Topic 6: Dairy farmers and stakeholder needs related to digitalization and new technologies: This topic aims to collect opinions from farmers, the dairy industry, associations protecting farmers about the need for digitalization, and new technologies for dairy farming. Special attention will be also given to the administrative simplification that can be reached using new technologies and digitalization.
-
Topic 7: Other innovations to achieve one Health: This topic is very broad and will contain innovations that will not be covered by the other topics. For instance, some research or practical applications related to the reduction of antimicrobial use, the use of mycotoxins in feed, or the gut microbiota,... have their place in this topic.
-
Topic 8: Economic and social impacts of dairy innovations: This topic aims to show the concrete economic and social impacts of dairy innovations.
A call of abstracts is now opened for all of those topics for poster and oral presentations. Moreover, speakers, experts on the topic, will be also invited.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and related to the 8 topics presented above. The authors will have the choice between oral or poster presentations.
