Call for Contributions - Dutch Systems Engineering Days 2026
Dear friends in the Systems Engineering community in the Netherlands and beyond!
As INCOSE-NL, 2026 marks the celebration of our 30th anniversary. As part of that , INCOSE-NL will proudly organize a two-day event where we can come together as a community, to strengthen existing relations and to shape new relations. Between organizations and across domains!
This event, the Dutch Systems Engineering Days will take place on 12th and 13th of November 2026.
To make the DSED2026 a success, we need you! We cordially invite you to submit a contribution and be part of a rich and varied event where we can learn, inspire and move forward with renewed energy to improve society with a systems approach!
Scope
DSED 2026 is a celebration of 30 years’ of INCOSE and with that, the continued development of Systems Engineering in the Netherlands. With this, the DSED will have a broad focus to appreciate the many-faceted nature of Systems Engineering. Therefore, submissions are welcomed on any topic related to systems engineering. To guide you, we are looking for examples of:
-
Innovative Systems Engineering methods improving the development and operation of systems
-
Application of Systems Engineering in novel contexts or applications that address adoption or scale-up challenges
-
Education, Training and Development of (upcoming) Systems Engineering professionals.
The DSED 2026 will offer a podium to four specific domains (High-Tech, Defense, Infrastructure & Energy) but as Systems Engineering can, could and should be applied in many domains, submissions are welcomed from any domain.
Submission Process
In order to gauge the interest of the community and to ensure a balanced program, we have developed a two-stage process.
In the first stage, you submit a max 450-word abstract detailing the intent and content of your contribution, and you also outlined the intended submission type as listed below. After a review of the abstract, you will receive a notification and feedback to proceed to the next stage.
In the second stage, we will ask you to fully develop your contribution into either a workshop, presentation, or paper and submit this before the designated deadlines.
We also kindly welcome student submissions, which have a separate timeline
The following timeline applies:

Articles
-
Presentations

-
Student Contributions
Articles
We invite both practitioners as well as academic researchers to provide their latest insights in the field of systems engineering, on the abovementioned topics such as SE method innovation, SE applications and/or SE education in an accessible manner to a broad audience. Examples content can range from findings from industry applications to research in progress. Submitting an article to DSED2026 is not intended to be comparable to a submission for a journal or conference proceedings, but it represents a stepping stone to bundle the latest insights in Systems Engineering of the Dutch SE community. All accepted articles will appear in a digital conference proceedings book.
After receiving an acceptance notification for the abstract of an article, the author(s) are requested to elaborate their abstract into a full article. Submit an article of 3 to 6 pages (A4 size) with main text (font size 11), figures, tables and references. The page limit does not include references. A template will be provided.
The article must be written in English, following the instructions on the template. Upload the extended abstract in Word and/ or PDF file format. These guidelines are strict: Submissions imply the willingness of at least one author to register, attend the conference, and present their contribution with a concise presentation.
Articles will be peer reviewed by invited reviewers. The review process is overseen by the program committee. The aim of the review is to establish a quality baseline for the articles, rather than establishing full academic rigour.
The best article will receive the ‘DSED 2026 - Best Article Award” and win a paid entry fee for the INCOSE International Symposium 2027
Presentations
We invite the SE community to present and discuss noteworthy, interesting or engaging content as described in the abovementioned scope. Presentations should aim for an overview of the topic with 15 minutes, with subsequent room for follow-up questions from the audience. Typically, one session will feature several similar themed presentations.
Workshops
We invite the SE community to propose workshops in which attendees can engage hands-on with the proposed content. The goal of the workshop can range from education & training to workshops that engage participants in discussions about certain subjects, or workshops that build upon the expertise of participants to gain insights in a certain topic.
A workshop slot will typically be 90 minutes, but alternate lengths may be proposed.
Student Contributions
Students and recent alumni (graduated 2025/26) from higher education are invited to submit a proposal for a presentation, interactive session or practical demonstration based on a study project. The contribution should demonstrate results of a systems engineering project. Submit a 300-word abstract describing the contents of your contribution.
Submissions imply the willingness of at least one author to register, attend the conference, and present their contribution. Note that a reduced student fee is available.
Submissions will be reviewed and selected based on significance, originality, and clarity of exposition.
The best student project will receive the ‘DSED 2026 - Best Student Award” and will receive a prize as well.
