Submission Guidelines
The process of globalization has begun as a result of the unprecedented development of communication and transportation systems during the last half-century. It has become a worldwide phenomenon, fostering diplomatic, economic, commercial, social, educational, and cultural interactions among countries around the world. As a result of this ongoing process of globalization, the interaction between people has increased at the state, institutional, and individual levels. This has led to an increased interest in geography, demography, economy, natural resources, politics, society, education, and culture of other countries. To understand other countries, it is necessary to know their language. Likewise, to establish diplomatic relations with other countries. Thus, knowledge of other countries and competence in foreign languages has emerged as a new field of study in academia, giving rise to disciplines such as foreign studies and foreign language studies.
In light of this context, the Institute of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka, as a center of foreign studies and foreign language studies, is going to organize a Foreign Language and Culture Conference -2023 to promote foreign studies and foreign language research.
In line with this, the National Conference on Foreign Language and Culture invites research papers from scholars, academicians, and students who have been engaged in teaching and/or pursuing research on the areas of Foreign language (e.g., including Arabic, Bangla, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Russian, Spanish, Persian, Turkish) learning/acquisition, and teaching, literature, linguistics, applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, translation studies, cultural studies, and foreign studies.
Selected papers will be published in the conference proceedings, and the presenters will be provided with local hospitality during the conference.
Paper Topics Might Include but are not limited to:
Foreign language (including Arabic, Bangla, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Russian, Spanish, Persian Turkish) Learning/Acquisition, and Teaching, Literature, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Sociolinguistics, Foreign Studies, Cultural Studies, and Translation Studies.
The abstract must be written in Bangla, English, or any other foreign language, along with an English translation. The following personal information must be submitted in MS Word format along with the abstract : a) Name b) Affiliation (if any) c) Title of the proposal d) Proposal for paper/abstract (not exceeding 300 words) e) Brief bio f) Contact information: email, work or home address, and phone and WhatsApp number.
