The digital age continues to create disruption of the highest order - in every possible facet of business across various domains and geography. Hence technological innovations are no more an option, it is imperative. Sailing with this change the banking industry is also witnessing tectonic shifts in the way routine businesses are conducted - from branch functioning to intra-bank and inter-bank transactions, payments and settlements, credit management to customer services.
A new wave of technological innovations in financial services, popularly called Financial Technology “FinTech” is accelerating radical transformation in the banking and financial sectors landscape worldwide. FinTech leverages the explosion of big data of individuals and firms, advances in Artificial Intelligence, Computing Capabilities, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Blockchain, Cloud Technologies, Cryptography and many more disruptive innovations, which till recent years were hard to comprehend. The possibility now looms that entities driven by FinTech may emerge as competitive alternatives to traditional financial market participants, market architecture and infrastructures.
In India, the introduction of Digital India movement has provided the desired impetus to FinTech, propelling the beneficiaries to develop and share knowledge besides flow of FinTech Investments. Given the emerging landscape created by FinTech, there are issues and concerns including cyber security that need insightful deliberations by the domain experts. In this backdrop, the Department of Banking Technology, Pondicherry University, organises an International Conferenece on Emerging Trends in Banking & Financial Technology at Pondicherry Unviersity during August 12-14, 2020.
