The International Child Phonology Conference (ICPC) is an annual conference on all aspects of children's speech sound development. In 2022, the conference will be hosted by Françoise Brosseau-Lapré and the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. The conference will take place in person, with some components of the conference available online (synchronous).
Researchers, graduate students, and clinicians are invited to join us June 9-11, 2022 to present and discuss topics in child phonology.
Submission Guidelines
We invite proposals for oral and poster presentations covering any aspect of children's phonological development. Topics from previous years have included development of phonological systems in first, early second, and bilingual language acquisition; development of signed language phonology; speech perception; relationships between phonological development and other aspects of language acquisition; computational modeling; and theoretical and clinical aspects related to speech sound development in children with typical speech and/or in children with speech sound disorders.
Abstracts must be submitted through the EasyAbstract website. Authors should indicate whether they prefer an oral or poster presentation - also, indicate whether you plan to attend in person or prefer to present virtually. The Oral Presentation format is a 20 minute presentation with 10 minutes for Q&A. Posters will be displayed during dedicated poster sessions that do not overlap with oral sessions. Please note that we will only accept a maximum of two Oral Presentations per author: one as sole or lead author, and one as secondary author.
Abstracts should be 500 words or less, with an additional page for references, tables, figures. A title must be included at the top of the abstract. The following information should be included: concise summary of the rationale; research question(s); summary of methods, results, and conclusions. If the research is in progress, analyses and expected outcomes should be stated.
Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by members of the scientific committee.
Venue
The conference will be held in Lyles-Porter Hall at Purdue University, in West Lafayette, IN. Some components of the event will be available online (synchronously).
