India is the sixth largest economy at present and aspired to take its place besides United States and China as the third largest economy by 2030 at over ten trillion USD. This growth will not be dependent on natural resources but driven by knowledge resources. India needs a knowledge society based on a healthy education system, with all the required attributes and characteristics in the context of changes in knowledge demands, technologies and the way in which society lives and works. To meet the challenges of future, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) need to ensure a culture of lifelong learning and inclusive educational opportunities for all. Investing in human capital is the priority to make the most of this evolving economic opportunity.
The policies of inclusiveness in HEIs should consider the diversity of the students and promote equality in the design, planning and evaluation of programmes, courses and modules. The promotion of lifelong learning leverages the advantages of knowledge society and economy. HEIs have to ensure lifelong learning opportunities by enabling and strengthening various pathways involving formal and non-formal education modes, online learning, one-on-one tutoring, Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and efficient usage of emerging Information and Communication Technologies and Apps. Employees who bring emerging skills into relevant technical fields of expertise are always in constant demand. The youth of today groomed with the culture of lifelong learning will be able to respond faster to the transforming requirements of knowledge and skills in future. In this context, the IQAC of the college is organizing the 11th I-Con on 'Role of HEIs in promoting Lifelong Learning and Inclusiveness' with the following objectives.
