The 3rd International Symposium on Mathematical and Computational Oncology (ISMCO’21) will take place October 11-13, 2021. Due to the pandemic situation and to ensure the safety of all participants, ISVMCO will be virtual again this year. ISMCO provides a common interdisciplinary forum for mathematicians, scientists, engineers and clinical oncologists throughout the world to present and discuss their latest research findings, ideas, developments and applications in mathematical and computational oncology. In particular, ISMCO aspires to enable the forging of stronger relationships among mathematics and physical sciences, computer science, data science, engineering and oncology with the goal of developing new insights into the pathogenesis and treatment of malignancies. The symposium will consist of invited and contributed presentations (oral and poster) dealing with all aspects of mathematical and computational oncology. Information about past ISMCO symposia can be found here:

*** Call for Tutorials and Special Tracks ***
In addition to soliciting abstracts and papers, we are also soliciting proposals for tutorials and special tracks on all topics relevant to ISMCO. Tutorials should address the interests of various individuals in the field of mathematical and computational oncology including graduate students, researchers and educators from academia, and researchers and practitioners from industry and government. Special tracks will take place during the main dates of the symposium and are intended to stimulate in-depth discussions in special areas relevant to the symposium theme. More details and submission instructions can be found here:

*** Submission and Review Process ***
ISMCO encourages three types of submissions for the main symposium and special tracks: (1st type) abstracts (1-2 pages), short papers (4-6 pages), or full papers (10-12 pages) of original and previously unpublished research, (2nd type) abstracts (1-2 pages) or short papers (4-6 pages) of original but recently published research in a journal (but not in a conference) and (3rd type) short papers (4-6 pages) describing work-in-progress, demos, experimental studies, open-source developments, and visionary papers.
Each submission will be reviewed by three members of the Program Committee (PC) using a “double-blind” review process to determine its appropriateness for acceptance and presentation (oral or poster) at ISMCO. Therefore, submissions should not contain names or other information revealing authors’ identity. Papers will be reviewed with an emphasis on potential to contribute to the state of the art in the field. Selection criteria include accuracy and originality of ideas, clarity and significance of results, and presentation quality. Papers should be submitted in camera-ready format and their length should match that intended for final publication.
*** Publication ***
Although publication in the symposium proceedings is not required for submitting and presenting your work at ISMCO, authors whose submissions are accepted for oral or poster presentation will have the option to publish their work either in the abstract proceedings or short/full paper proceedings. Authors who prefer not to publish a short or full paper, can submit an abstract (1-2 pages) to be published by Frontiers in a special, fully-indexed, volume. Short papers (4-6 pages) and full papers (10-12 pages with the option of purchasing 2 extra pages for up to 14 pages) will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics (LNBI). Full papers will also be submitted for indexing to PubMed Central.
*** Research Topic Journal Publication – Frontiers ***
Authors of selected abstracts and short/full papers presented at ISMCO will be invited to submit extended versions of their work for expedited review and possible journal publication in a special research topic on “Advances in Mathematical and Computational Oncology” in the Frontiers in Oncology (Cancer Genetics, Cancer Immunity and Immunotherapy), Frontiers in Genetics (Systems Biology, Cancer Genetics), Frontiers in Immunology (Cancer Immunity and Immunotherapy), Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences (Biological Modeling and Simulation), Frontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics (Systems Biology), Frontiers in Medicine (Precision Medicine), Frontiers in Big Data (Medicine and Public Health), Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence (Medicine and Public Health), Frontiers in Neuroscience (Systems Biology), and Frontiers in Physiology (Systems Biology, Computational Physiology and Medicine). Each author would have the opportunity to select which of the above journals/sections to submit their paper(s). All papers accepted for publication in Frontiers will receive a 10% – 20% discount (depending on total number of submissions) of publication fees and will appear in a dedicated webpage under the common mathematical and computational oncology research topic.
*** Attendance ***
ISMCO is a premier forum for presenting and discussing current research in mathematical and computational oncology. At least one author of each accepted work must complete the symposium registration, attend the symposium in person, and present the paper. If none of the authors of a paper can attend the symposium and present their paper(s) due to unforeseen reasons, they should contact the steering committee chair to make alternative arrangements. Papers not presented at the symposium without a valid reason will be withdrawn from the proceedings.
*** Job Posting ***
If your institution or company has any job openings, you can post an announcement free of charge on the ISMCO website using the link below:http://ismco.net/index.php/jobs/
*** Sponsorship ***
There are also sponsorship opportunities available this year, please follow the link below for more information:http://ismco.net/index.php/sponsorship-application/
