Scope of the Book
Internet of Drones (IoD) is a layered network control architecture designed mainly for coordinating the access of unmanned aerial vehicles. IoD is being envisaged as potential enablers for providing different type of commercially viable solutions in a future. Initially, drones were restricted to military operations due to their cost and limited access to technology. Drones find applications in diverse fields from agriculture to Industry, from Government to private organizations, Smart Cities in Rural area, monitoring, search and rescue operation, and 3Dmapping due to affordable technology advancement like Internet of Things, Smart Computer Vision, Cloud Computing, Advanced Wireless Communication, Big Data, 5G Communication and High-end security techniques. Drones have been deployed in sensitive and consumer related applications such as riots monitoring and control product delivery and logistics. For these applications, user identity and transaction details are sensitive information which needs to be secured. Blockchain can be a viable solution for preserving the data integrity and securing the entire transaction process involved. The impeding factor for large scale commercial adoption of drone is long flight/ operating duration for which it needs to effectively utilize the limited data processing, computing, sensing and analyzing resources. Limited battery capacity and weight is the biggest bottleneck for flight time. These challenges are open avenues which need to address.
Submission Guidelines
All chapters must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before 1st August, 2020, a chapter proposal (Abstract) of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by 11th August, 2020 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by 31st August, 2020 and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.
Topics of Interest
This book provides a platform to academia, researcher and industrial technocrats working in the related domain of IoD, to submit the research/investigations work both theoretical and practical evaluations related to design, implementation of secure and sustainable computing, communication technology for IOD and its application. Some of the desired topics include, but are not limited to the following:
- Cloud and big data technologies for IoD
- Smart cities and IoD
- Implementation and deployment of 5G-drone setups
- Data collection, analytics, processing for drones
- Security protocols for drone communications
- Content delivery technologies for IoD
