Following the previous meetings held in Dublin (2012), Enschede (2015), and Paris (2018), we have the pleasure to announce a forthcoming workshop in Bielefeld.
Non-verbal vocalisations such as laughs, sighs, filled pauses, and short utterances can communicate emotions and behavioural intentions. Often, they also play an important role in regulating interactions. The goal of this workshop is to bring together scientists from diverse research areas and to provide an exchange forum for interdisciplinary discussions in order to gain a better understanding of laughter and other non-verbal vocalisations in human-human and human-machine interactions. The workshop will consist of invited talks, oral, and poster presentations of ongoing research.
We invite contributions from all relevant fields, including phonetics, linguistics, psychology, conversation analysis, social signal processing, and human-machine/robot interaction.
Submission Procedure
Researchers are invited to submit short papers or abstracts (max. 4 pages, including references) describing their work, including work in progress. The submissions will be made available online.
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.
