The field of psychology has focused in the theoretical development and practical application of a huge body of predictive models with the purpose of explaining the functions and structures that determine how humans think and act in the world. In addition to that, psychological research has proposed a broad spectrum of different methodologies aimed at improving the general living conditions of people in various socio-economical contexts (health, work, family, school, interpersonal relations, etc.). This grounded set of scientific knowledge, professional practice and methodologies of intervention can be purposefully applied to the design and development of technologies that support the human psychological needs and compatible with each individual’s characteristics.
The First Symposium on Psychology-Based Technologies aims at becoming a meeting point for all those who wish to present psychological theories and models that revolve around the improvement of the psychological and relational life of every individual. Selected contributions will concern the development of psychology-based technologies in their beginning phase (proof of concept), intermediate phase (prototypes without a user-experience research) and final phase (products adopted by end users).
In particular, we welcome contributions on topics that include (but not limited to):
- Educational technologies (Serious games, MOOCs, technology enhanced learning, virtual reality applications)
- Assistive technologies and assistive robotics (rehabilitation technologies, ambient-assisted living, technologies for the care of the elderly)
- Computational psychometrics for cognitive assessment and training
- Human-computer interaction
- System adaptation and personalization based on cognitive and psychological characteristics
- Intelligent user interface (adaptive virtual agents, smart multi-modal interfaces)
- Cognitive and computational modelling
Moreover, during the Symposium, participants will have the chance to present the activities connected to on-going projects.
