The School of Information Technology at the University of Cape Town (UCT) will host the 47th South African Institute for Computer Scientists and Information Technologists (SAICSIT 2026) conference. The conference will be held from 13–15 July 2026 at the UCT Graduate School of Business (GSB) Conference Centre in Cape Town, South Africa. The 2026 conference theme is: The Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence Systems and Sustainable Technologies in Africa. SAICSIT 2026 will accommodate two main tracks namely Computer Science and Information Systems, with various topics considered for each track. All submissions should align with the areas of interest of SAICSIT, which are: Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering and Computer Engineering (as defined by the ACM, AIS and IEEE-CS).

Programme Tracks
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
The SAICSIT 2026 programme committee solicits submissions in the following categories: (1) Full (12–16 pages) research papers for the main programme tracks: Computer Science (CS) and Information Systems (IS) tracks, and (2) Short (3–5 pages) work-in-progress papers for the Postgraduate symposium. Paper submissions must be to the programme CS or IS tracks. Suggested paper topics (for either track) are as above.
Full papers:
We invite the submission of full papers of 12–16 pages using the Springer CCIS template (Latex, Word). Papers must report original, previously unpublished research and practical experience with results. All full paper submissions will be double-blind peer-reviewed by a panel of experts. Accepted full papers will be published in Springer CCIS Series - Communications in Computer and Information Science (subject to pending approval by Springer). CCIS is DHET subsidy-bearing as a journal publication. High quality papers not accepted for the CCIS series will be published in the SAICSIT 2026 online proceedings.
Paper submission will occur via EasyChair. Submissions should be formatted using the CCIS template, with author names and affiliations removed from the paper for the double-blind review process. The programme committee will consider the following criteria in evaluating submitted papers:
- Originality of contribution.
- Relevance to the conference theme.
- Technical and scientific merit.
- Presentation and clarity.
To be included in the proceedings, accepted full papers must be presented (in person) at the conference, where every accepted paper will require at least one author to register.
Short papers (Postgraduate Symposium):
Postgraduate (masters and doctoral) students are invited to submit work-in-progress papers (3–5 pages) which will be presented at the SAICSIT 2026 Postgraduate symposium. Work-in-progress submissions must be via email to pchair2026@saicsit.org. Further details can be found on the SAICSIT 2026 conference website.
Call for Workshop proposals:
Interested parties who wish to chair a panel during the main conference or who wish to present a tutorial or workshop during the conference are invited to submit in writing a proposal (1–2 pages) for their respective panel, tutorial, or workshop via e-mail to pchair2026@saicsit.org by the 1st of February, 2026.
