Call for Papers - Scientifific Track (IEEE technically co-sponsored)
Data Science stands on the frontline of new scientific discoveries and plays a significant role in all aspects of our everyday lives. The 8th Swiss Conference on Data Science - SDS2021– brings together researchers, developers, opinion leaders, decisionmakers, and innovators with expertise in Data Science. The goal of SDS2021 is to foster the exchange of novel ideas for datascience.
Topics of interest
We invite submissions of original research papers related to all areas of Data Science, especially best practice and use-caseoriented research work with technical depth and practical applicability. We especially want to solicit work in three key areas inthe coming year, namely:
• Intelligent Data Management: Businesses are asking increasingly complex questions. At the same time distributed data sources, graph databases andknowledge graphs have become ubiquitous. That leads to novel data architectures and open challenges with (semi-) automaticdata integration, data cleaning and efficient query processing at scale to enable interactive data exploration. Moreover, these architectures have to address Data Privacy, GDPR and security.
• Learning from Little: Many real-world Data Science tasks are faced with the challenge of small datasets and sparsely labeled data. This leads tovastly different approaches than the ones we use with Big Data.
• Smart Services: Smart Services turn digitalization into business benefits. It combines the intelligent analysis of data with the transformationof user-centered services to provide added value for both service providers and customers. Smart services are not onlyabout technological solutions; there are much broader implications.
Submission
• Full Paper – present high-quality research contributions, including experiments, analysis, or system papers, as well as descriptionsof application results. Each submission can have up to 6 pages incl. references.
• Short Paper – present late-breaking results, work in progress, follow-up extensions, application case studies, or evaluationsof existing methods. Each submission can have up to 2 pages incl. references.
All submissions must be original works that have not been published previously in any conference proceedings, magazine, journal, or edited book. The review process will be double blind, therefore we ask authors to take specific care to anonymizetheir submission reasonably. Concurrent submissions are strictly forbidden. Submission of papers implies intention to registerand present the related content at the conference. The international Program Committee will carefully review the submissions.Excellent content and presentation as demonstrated in the submission are mandatory for acceptance. Accepted submissionswill be presented in English (as a talk or a poster) by the authors at the conference. As last year, proceedings of all paperspresented at the conference will be submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore digital library. All submissions must be formattedby following the IEEE 8.5” x 11” two-column format.
Important Dates: Feb 05, 2021F: Submission deadline, Mar 23, 2021: Author notification, May 03, 2021: Camera ready papers deadline, Jun 09, 2021: Conference takes place at KKL Lucerne or online* The submission system and further information can be found at: www.sds2021.ch
* In the case of an online conference we plan to stream the presentations live from KKL Lucerne.
