Route scheduling is one of the most important real-life problems and became a core issue in transportation, supply chain management and logistics. Development of smart delivery systems requires appropriate techniques, architectures and tools, having in view the advance of science in this area.
The book aims at disseminating efforts in solving complex transportation problems to support research in this area. We strive to present current advances on novel ideas and practical aspects concerning real-life transportation problems, and highlight challenges which are being faced by research and industrial communities.
The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. Approximate and exact algorithms (serial and parallel) for tackling rich vehicle routing problems – current status and trends in the state of the art
2. Current and emerging formulations and models of real-life rich vehicle routing problems
3. How to assess your smart delivery system? Benchmarks for rich vehicle routing problems
4. Bio-inspired algorithms for rich vehicle routing problems
5. Hybrid algorithms for rich vehicle routing problems
6. Heuristic and meta-heuristic algorithms for rich vehicle routing problems
7. Machine learning in smart delivery systems
8. Advanced data analysis in smart delivery systems
9. Approaches, techniques and challenges in parallelising smart delivery systems
10. Practical applications of rich vehicle routing problems
