The Scientific Understanding and Representation (SURe) Workshop seeks to bring together philosophers and scientists to discuss how issues of representation and understanding intersect. This year's conference will be held jointly with the Philosophy of Social Science Roundtable.

- The epistemology of modeling
- Idealization, abstraction, etc.
- Data and phenomena
- Model-based explanation
- Theories of scientific representation (structuralist, similarity views, inferentialist, etc.)
- The nature of grasping, and its implications for scientific practice
- Scientific understanding and representation in policy contexts
