Papers & Posters Authors may submit abstracts for research in progress, recently completed papers OR a poster proposal. Papers are appropriate for completedresearch papers, whereas posters are ideal forfeedback on work-in-progress. If accepted, paperauthors will present the completed paper in a 20-minute presentation with 10 minutes for questions. Posters are displayed at the event with opportunityfor feedback and discussion. Participants will be asked if they plan to presentvirtually or in person. Proposals accepted: February 15 - March 15 Notice ofdecision: May 31 Full papers due: August 1 Completed posters Due: September 1 Panels Panels feature a 90-minute discussion with 3-4participants exploring perspectives on animportant and timely policy issue. Student Paper Contest TPRC offers cash prizes of $1000, $500, and $300for outstanding student papers. Award winnersalso receive complimentary conferenceregistration, two nights lodging and travelreimbursement up to $750. The contest is open to all graduate and law students enrolled in the2021-2022 school year. All co-authors must bestudents as well. Papers co-authored with facultyor other non-students are not eligible. Charles Benton Early Career Scholar Award
TPRC and the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society announce the fourth year of the Charles Benton Early Career Scholar Award, recognizing scholarship in the area of digital inclusion and broadband adoption. This special honor will be awarded at TPRC 2022 in honor of Charles Benton, a longstanding supporter of TPRC and tireless advocate for media, communications and digital equality. The award recipient will receive$1,500, will be recognized at lunch during the TPRC conference and will receive complimentary registration for the conference. A runner-up may be named but does not receive a Conference fee waiver and is notobligated to do a blog article as described below.
Application Criteria:
Scholars currently enrolled in a degree program or no more than five years from receipt of their most recentdegree are eligible.
Acceptable submissions include:
- An original, empirically-based research paper pertaining digital inclusion and/or broadbandadoption
- A policy proposal for digital inclusion and broadband adoption with a discussion of thejustification
- An essay on a topic dealing with digital inclusion and/or broadband adoption.
Submissions must be less than 25 double-spaced, typewritten pages, including notes and references andwill not have been formally published in a peer reviewed outlet prior to TPRC 2022.
The recipient will be chosen by a TPRC Board Committee and must attend the conference and agree to workwith the Benton Institute’s Executive Editor, Kevin Taglang, to produce a blog article based on the winningsubmission for Benton.org
