ENDORSE 2023 CONFERENCE
High dynamism and rapid innovation underpin digital transformation of public administrations. As benefits are well understood and numerous actions already ongoing, it is time to overcome organisational silos by sharing best practices and lessons learned.
The first ENDORSE conference in 2021 marked an important step to surpass these silos and created a unique and much needed type of event on standards, semantics and interoperability. Contributions from researchers featuring emerging data science trends, the United Nations, EU and national public administrations presenting practical use-cases, and the private sector with supporting technical solutions highlighted numerous innovative projects and large-scale activities.
The Publications Office of the European Union and Interoperable Europe supported by Digital Europe Programme are bringing the next edition of the ENDORSE conference on 14-16 March 2023.
Join ENDORSE to explore the latest trends in multilingual reference data. Let your voice be heard and become part of an active and forward-looking community of international professionals in the field. The conference will bring together users, practitioners, experts, researchers, solution seekers and providers from the EU institutions and agencies, national public services and universities, as well as in international and intergovernmental organisations and the private sector.
The focuses of ENDORSE 2023:
- The use of reference data and semantics to provide a consistent way of interpreting data and to make it easier for users to access it directly in real time
- The implementation of semantic technologies in our everyday lives, making them closer to the citizen in a painless manner and in socially beneficial ways
- The interpenetration of semantic intelligence and multilingual intelligence
ENDORSE is an online event.
Important dates
The call for presentation and paper proposals opens on 30 June 2022.
The deadline for the submission of abstracts of presentation proposals is 6 September 2022.
The review of presentation proposals will take place in September - October 2022.
The decisions of the Programme Committee will be notified to all potential speakers by 21 October 2022.
Speakers must submit their presentations by 25 November 2022.
ENDORSE takes place on 14–16 March 2023.
All speakers who want their papers published must submit their final texts by 20 March 2023.

Topic selections will be used to begin the process of organising presentations into sessions and to determine the structure of the conference proceedings, which will be published along with the presentations after the conference on the Publications Office’s web portal (EU Vocabularies website).

Author guidelines and submission
When submitting your proposal, select the format most conducive to showcasing your work
- Research and innovation presentation
- You will have a limited amount of time for your presentation – up to 15 minutes.
- You should present your ongoing work or even results in terms of research and innovation, be it in the academic field or industry.
- Use case presentation
- You will have a limited amount of time to make your presentation – up to 15 minutes.
- You should present summaries or overviews of your work (purpose, procedures, outcomes or product).
- You should present summaries or overviews of your work (purpose, procedures, outcomes or product).
- A focus on smart applications and solutions implemented in real processes and with valuable and meaningful results will be appreciated.
- Presentations are grouped according to topic into themed sessions.
- Visual supports may be used (computer slides or digital displays) to assist the delivery of your oral presentation.
- Paper
- Further to your presentation, we propose you to publish a paper with the same content.
- Your paper must not have been submitted for publication elsewhere.
- Poster and demo
- You will proceed in two steps as follows
- Lightning talk
- 5 minutes will be allocated to speakers for a data blitz (oral session) to introduce a topic that will be discussed later during the conference or to promote your work and tempt attendees to watch the videos that will be made accessible during ENDORSE 2023. You should summarise information or research concisely and attractively to help inform people about it and generate discussion, to attract people’s attention and to serve as a conversation starter.
- Visuals must be used (background information necessary to put your work into context, understand what you have done, etc.)
- No more than 4 slides
- Poster or demo
- Maximal duration, 15 minutes
- Innovation and implementations in the real world must be in the spotlight
- Lightning talk
- You will proceed in two steps as follows
- Tutorial
- Maximum duration, 15 minutes
- Empowering potential users must be in the focus of these tutorials meant to ease knowledge transfer and skill acquisition
- You need to provide a videorecording of your tutorial(s); access will be provided to them during and after ENDORSE 2023.
- There will not be any live tutorial during the event itself.
Please note that
- the proposal must be submitted in English, as this will be the conference language;
- authors are invited to submit an extended abstract of the presentation they would like to give, together with a short abstract;
- the long abstract (up to 750 words) should facilitate a deeper understanding of the submitted work and should consist of clearly written text, it can include a concise description of the purpose, methods, and implications of your work. This will be used to evaluate your work and place in the appropriate session;
- short abstracts will appear in the conference programme and will help participants choose which sessions to attend (up to 250 words);
- data blitz proposals (up to 750 words) should describe the topic/goal of the tutorial, demo or discussion to follow;
- abstracts (long and short) and biographies must be submitted by 6 September 2022 at the latest. Relevant topics must be specified;
- presentations (maximum 8-10 slides) and videos must be submitted by 25 November 2022 at the latest;
- final papers (up to 5 000 words) must be submitted by 20 March 2023;
- a short biography of all authors is also requested (up to 350 words).

Accepted proposals will have to be presented by at least one author, who is expected to register for the conference. Accepted papers that cannot be presented during the conference will not be made available on the conference website.
Promotional conversations are permissible. However, products or services may not be sold at the conference.
Biographical information
This should include your organisation, institution, public service or company, your position or title and a short statement of interests.
Multiple-authored formal papers and presentations are welcome but only one article may be included in the conference proceedings.
Short abstracts of accepted papers/presentations and biographies will be used in the online programme and event advertising.
