Greetings from the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University (FIU)! The 29th Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism is calling for paper submissions.
Who should attend this conference?
The focus of the conference and program will be on the research of graduate students and graduate education issues in the field of hospitality and tourism. While this conference has been designed for graduate students and faculty, undergraduate students, and industry professionals with interest in graduate education should consider attending.
What topics will fit for this conference?
This conference focuses on a broad range of contemporary topics relevant to research, education, and industry practices in hospitality, tourism, and related fields of study. Presentation proposals are hereby solicited, and the lead author must be a graduate student or an undergraduate honors student who conducted the research work. (Note on Faculty Endorsement of Student Research: Students submitting papers must list the name and email address of the sponsoring faculty member.)
Students must indicate one of the following tracks when submitting a paper for review:
- Consumer Behavior in Hospitality
- Consumer Behavior in Tourism
- Finance & Economics
- Human Resources & Leadership & Education
- Lodging Management & Service Quality
- Marketing
- Restaurant & Food Service
- IT Adoption & Application
- Tourism & Sustainability
What are the options for paper submission?
Option 1: Formal Oral Presentation (Completed Empirical Research)
The primary objective of this track is to provide a forum for reporting “state-of-the-art” research in hospitality and tourism, with an emphasis on innovative developments in concepts, models, theories, and/or research methods. This track is open to papers based on COMPLETED research studies only by graduate students and undergraduate honors students. To be selected, the paper must solidly demonstrate sound theoretical development, proper research design, pertinent data collection methods, appropriate and relevant data analyses and exhibit a possible solution to real-world problems. Students must submit a Structured Abstract (2,000 words, in English, including tables/figures, but excluding references) by the deadline (September 15th, 2023, 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, USA) to be considered for a Formal Paper Presentation. Accepted papers in this category will be eligible for the “Conference Paper Awards.”
Option 2: Poster Presentation (Work-in-Progress)
The intent of this track is to encourage presentation of research projects that are not completed but might be of significant interest to the research community. Both conceptual and empirical papers that are “work-in-progress” would fall into this category. A paper based strictly on a “research idea” or “literature review” does not qualify for this track. Graduate students who wish to present a paper based on their research proposals for master’s theses, doctoral dissertations, or undergraduate honors research should submit papers to the relevant tracks in this category. The poster should present significant theoretical or conceptual developments, research propositions or hypotheses, proposed methods and/or a data analysis plan. Students must submit a Structured Abstract (1,000 words, in English including tables/figures, but excluding references) by the deadline (September 15th, 2023, 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, USA) to be considered for a Poster Presentation.
