The world are now facing global problems, such as urbanization, demographic change, climate change, pollution, scarcity of natural resources, energy supply, and other things related to human well-being. Most of the world’s population lives in urban areas which covers only 2% of the land area. People needs public services, electricity, communications, water, and so on in such areas that need good living supports. This challenges affect individuals and societies by delivering invention, innovation, and societal changes toward sustainable development, including rapid advancement of information and communication technology (ICT). ICT now is not just for connectivity and information delivery. It enables further society engagements in solving real-world problems by allowing crowdsourcing, transparency, and citizen-based data collection. Data-driven intelligence even creates new tremendous opportunity to support humanity. These create initiatives around the globe, e.g., smart city and community, society 5.0, industry 4.0, and so on, to increase the quality of human life.Nowadays, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are undoubtly empowering smart society. However, its implementations still face several challenges and unified solutions may be needed. Hence, to discuss the solutions toward smart community, we cordially invite you to participate in the 7th International Conference on ICT for Smart Society (ICISS) 2020.
