The Indian Society for Heat and Mass Transfer (ISHMT) has been acting as a nodal agency in India stimulating researchers engaged in various areas of heat and mass transfer and bringing them together for fruitful interaction and exchange of ideas. The ISHMT organized the first National Heat and Mass Transfer Conference at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 1971 and subsequently the conference has been held once in every two years at different places across the country. In these conferences, many well-known experts from abroad have also participated, exchanged technical information and shared their expertise with the Indian researchers. In order to foster greater interaction with the researchers from overseas, ISHMT has started collaborating with other premier professional societies. During the period of 1994-2013, ISHMT and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) had jointly organized this conference. Thereafter, ISHMT and American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE) are jointly organizing this conference.
The role of heat and mass transfer in modern engineering applications and industrial processes is quite significant. The cutting edge researches like thermal management, additive manufacturing, green buildings, and micro and nano-scale transport phenomena in biological systems are becoming popular along with traditional researches in power plant, internal combustion engine, refrigeration and air conditioning. All over the world, intensive research is in progress on all aspects of fluid flow and heat transfer using theoretical, computational and experimental approaches. The goal of the conference is to gather scholars from all over the world to present advances in the fields of transport phenomena and to foster an environment conducive to exchanging ideas and information. This conference will also provide an ideal environment to develop new collaborations and meet experts on the fundamentals, applications, and products of the mentioned fields. This conference includes invited keynote talks by distinguished experts from industry and academia (across the globe) and number of parallel technical (oral and poster) sessions spread over full three days. This would serve as a platform for young researchers to meet and discuss with academic experts and get motivated further to produce high quality research.

Venue
The conference will be held in Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India between 28-31, December 2019.
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is the successor of University of Roorkee and thus it is the oldest technical institution of the country established as the Roorkee College of Engineering in 1847 and rechristened as Thomason College of Civil Engineering in 1857. It was elevated to the first Technical University of Independent India on November 25, 1949. In the year 2001, University of Roorkee was declared as the Institute of national importance and converted into Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) on September 21, 2001. The Department of Mechanical Engineering came into being in the year 1946 and the first batch of Mechanical Engineers was graduated in the year 1949. The Department was renamed as Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering on the silver jubilee year i.e. in 1974 when an undergraduate programme in Industrial Engineering was started. At present the Department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various facets of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The Department offers Master of Technology courses in Machine Design Engineering, Production and Industrial Systems Engineering, Thermal System Engineering, and Welding Engineering. The Department has also started M.Tech programme in CAD, CAM and Robotics from the year 2005. The Department has laboratory and workshop facilities with modern sophisticated equipment to carry out research in all areas related to Mechanical and Production & Industrial Engineering. The faculty actively participates in sponsored research and consultancy work.
