An Interdisciplinary Conference on AI Methods, AI Applications, and Ethical/Legal Implications
June 13-14, 2023, Gutenberg Digital Hub, Mainz, Germany
Organized by TOPML, AI Alliance RLP and KI@JGU
The purpose of the Mainz and Friends Artificial Intelligence Conference (MAInC) is to promote research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and foster scientific exchange between researchers, students, academics, and practitioners from industry across the entirety of AI and application areas in Mainz and the region, including Koblenz and Bingen. The conference is not limited to technical submissions, but explicitly encourages contributions on the ethical, legal, and other implications of AI.
Submission Guidelines
MAInC-23 welcomes submissions reporting research that advances artificial intelligence, broadly conceived. The scope of the conference includes machine learning (deep learning, statistical learning, etc), natural language processing, computer vision, data mining, multiagent systems, knowledge representation, human-in-the-loop AI, search, planning, reasoning, robotics and perception, and ethics.
The event will have three separate tracks:
- the theory and methods track
- the industrial and academic applications track
- the implications and societal issues track.
All three tracks will be given ample time for presentations.
Topics of special interest are:
- Trustworthy AI: fairness, privacy, transparency, etc., and potential trade-offs
- Neuro-symbolic AI or hybrid AI
- Automated Scientific Discovery
- Applications, e.g., in physics, biology, chemistry, health and medicine; but also in industrial settings: energy, logistics, social and journalistic media, ...
- Ethical, legal and societal implications of AI
We request extended abstracts of maximally 4 pages in Springer LNCS style OR abstracts of work already published elsewhere of 1 page in the same style. Author names and affiliations should be included (i.e., there will not be blind reviewing).
The submissions (for all three tracks) will be reviewed by at least two PC members and assessed by its scientific quality. When submitting, authors have to specify in which track they wish to be.
