UMMISCO is an International Mixed Unit under the supervision of 7 university organisations in France, Morocco, Senegal, Cameroon, and Vietnam. It historically comes from the collaboaration between Research Unit IRd Geodes, created in 2000, and LMDP (Morocco). This collaboration then expanded in 2003 with the emergence of the Modelisation and Thematic Applications netwhork that involved University of Yaoundé (Cameroon) and UCAD (Senegal). UGB (senegal) and IFI (Vietnam) joined the network in 2009, before the USTH (Vietnam) did too in 2014.
UMMISCO is in January 2019 75 members strong. Its research activities mainly contributes to the development of mathematic and informatic modelisation methodologies and tools that allow to better understand and grasp the underlying emerging dynamics of complex systems in order to respond to social and environmental challenges.
In a context of intense scientific upheavals on a global scale and in the face of the emergence of climatic, epidemiological ans security threats, the UMMISCO UMI, in conjunction with its various partners, organizes an international conference from 02 to 06 april 2020 at saly (Mbour - Senegal) on the theme of Mathematical and IT modelling at the service of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). It aims at gatheringspecialist from various backgrounds to review the contribution of Mathematic and IT modelling in reaching the SDG.
