The OSFC will take place for the second time in 2019 and will be held in the renowned Silicon Valley.
We provide a platform to bring together open source firmware enthusiasts to collaborate, share knowledge and push firmware development in an open source direction. We’re happy to host the OSFC for the second time. We depend on your talk submissions to make it a successful conference.
Speakers get complimentary admission to the conference and have the option of purchasing a ticket to sponsor another speaker or student who needs financial assistance to attend. If you are a speaker or student in need of financial assistance, please mention it in your submission so we can allocate scholarship funds.
List of Topics
- Free and Open Source firmware, especially LinuxBoot, coreboot, U-Boot and TianoCore, Trusted Firmware, OpenBMC, and related projects.
- Free and Open Source hardware ranging from embedded devices to server systems.
- State-of-the-art security in firmware, including both defensive and offensive aspects.
- Firmware and hardware reverse engineering.
- Current hardware/firmware security issues.
- Advances in open hard- and firmware on the market.
Although we accept hardware related topics, the focus should lie on the firmware side.
Submission Guidelines
The conference will be divided into two parts. Talks will be held at the first two conference days. The following days will focus on hackathon and lightning talks.
All submissions can be updated later on, until due date.
It is mandatory that at least one author of each accepted talk attend the conference.
Day 1 & 2 Submissions
Submissions can be based on work in progress, scientific work published or submitted for publication, practical experience reports, or practical tool demonstrations. They may be in abstract, outline, or slide deck form. Submissions must be in English. Full-length talks are 30 minutes followed by max. 10 minutes of Q&A.

Publication
Day 1 & 2 talks will be video recorded and published afterward, together with the submission and slides.
If a recording and/or publication is not desired by a speaker, the recording will be stopped (notification in advance to the talk is required) and documents will not be published. Please inform us by email in advance.
The OSCF 2019 proceedings will be made available online afterward.
