Conference Background
The 2021 Project Management Institute – Research and Academic Conference is the 6th conference in the series conducted by Project Management Institute (PMI) India since 2011. The 2021- PMI-RAC is being hosted by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Mumbai. Over the years, the conference has attracted researchers, academicians, professionals, and students of project management from diverse fields of applications. The conference, which will be entirely virtual and online, presents a unique platform to share the research findings and opens the opportunities of research and learning in project management. This year, the conference expands its horizons by transforming into an international conference and will further our knowledge and understanding of various area related to Project Management.
Theme for PMI RAC 2021
. The advent of AI and data science is transforming the way we manage our projects in ways we would have hardly imagined a few years back. These developments will have tremendous impact on how the projects are conceived, conceptualized and executed now. There is a vast scope to understand their influence on the performance of projects throughout their life cycle. It is an appropriate time for the project management community to reflect on the advances of these fields in terms of their application and integration into project management. Further, there is a need to set course an agenda for the future research to un-earth areas of interest where the application of AI and data sciences can boost the project performance and synchronize with the fundamental principles of project management.
The conference theme – “Enhancing project performance: Application of AI and decision sciences” tries to capture these fundamental themes and philosophies which are before the project management researchers of this age. The conference tries to explore the role of AI and decision science in the areas but not limited to the following areas
- Project Economy – Turning ideas to reality
- Business Agility / Agile Project Management
- Impact of digital disruption in projects
- Real-time decision making in projects

In addition to the above themes, papers are also invited from all related areas of project management.

The conference looks forward to bringing together industry professionals, academicians and leading researchers in project management. We invite you to submit your original manuscripts which may include interesting case studies, surveys, and application of project management & decision sciences tools etc. High quality original research papers related to both advancement of theory and practice in the areas of project management are invited. Guide to authors
Authors should mandatorily follow the below guidelines while submitting the extended abstract:
- Separate title page should be provided with Title of manuscript, author's name (including corresponding author), affiliation and contact information.
- It is the author's responsibility to disclose any potential conflict of interest regarding the manuscript
- The extended abstract submitted should be of 500-1000 words with 1.5 line spacing and should not contain any author's /affiliation details.
- It should have 4 keywords.
- Use of references should be avoided in the extended abstract
- The font used must be 12-point Times New Roman.
- English (US) should be the language used for the manuscript.
- The authors whose extended abstracts are selected for conference will be required to submit the full paper
- Full papers would be about 5000 words in length with the formatting rules as above
- Other formatting guidelines will be provided to the authors whose abstracts are accepted.
- The manuscript which do not adhere to the guideline will be returned for resubmission in required format

Evaluation criteria for the submissions
All the submissions will be subjected to peer review. Some of the criteria that will be used for the evaluation of the Papers include:
- Originality of topic
- Relevance and current interest of topic
- Quality of the paper's methodology or approach
- Quality of date or evidence presented
- Quality of the theoretical foundation or critical stance
- Quality of the writing (whether is it easily understandable)
- Quality of the literature review
- Quality of conclusions supported by evidence
- Strength and coherence of the line of argument
- Overall quality of the paper
(All papers will go through a plagiarism check to ascertain its originality)
Additional information
- If the paper is selected for presentation in the conference, one of the authors must virtually attend the Conference to present the same
- If an author plans to present more than three papers, another co-author will also have to register
- Conference organizers reserve the right to edit all papers and abstracts for grammatical and editorial style as well as length and clarity
