The goal of the one-day Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium (SURS) is to exhibit the quality and breadth of undergraduate research in science and engineering at the University of Dayton. The symposium includes a guest plenary speaker, student presentations and a poster session. Breakfast and lunch sessions provide an opportunity for networking with peers.
The ability to communicate scientific ideas and results to a broad range of audiences is a necessary skill for scientists and engineers. Presenting research results in a formal setting, whether through oral presentations or posters, is a constructive experience for budding researchers, and it helps to build students’ communication skills and prepare them for careers in the sciences.
Submission Guidelines
The symposium committee accepts submissions from any students doing research in the sciences at the University of Dayton or the University of Dayton Research Institute. This includes students from the science departments in the College of Arts and Science – Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, and Computer Science - as well as students from the School of Engineering. Students submit 250-word abstracts through a submission website. Students can select two categogies:
- Oral
- Posters
