A Study Guidelines for the Development of Mosquito Repellent Lotions with Ingredients from Siam Weed Leaves

Abstract

Siam weed is a common weed. have a specific smell has a wide range of biological activity Can repel insects and mosquitoes that carry various diseases. The objective of this research was to study the methods of extracting substances and essential oils from the Siam weed leaves to develop as active ingredients in mosquito repellent lotions with the steam distilling parts of the tiger leaves and the extraction of the tiger leaves by fermentation method. The yield percentage of the extract was 13.18% and the production of distilled water was 92%, respectively. In addition, the extracts from the leaves of the tiger leaves were analyzed for the tannin content by the Tannin assay method. It was found that the extracts of the leaves of the tiger leaves had the tannin content of 5.79 percent. Distilled water and extracts are then used as ingredients in the mosquito repellent lotion formula. The optimal ratio for the production of a 100 g lotion of 30% distilled water and 0.005 % extract. After that, the mosquito repellent lotion products were analyzed physically and found that The product's pH was 5.35±0.18, moisture was 19.36±3.21. When tested under accelerated conditions, no precipitation was found in the product. Therefore, the use of extracts from tiger leaves as raw materials in mosquito repellent lotions has the potential to be formulated. In addition to creating added value for weeds, it also reduces the use of synthetics.
