Can AI be Regulated by EU Law ?

EasyChair Preprint no. 8393

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to expose the complex relationship between the European Union and the artificial intelligence, from a normative perspective, at a time when many authorities have published a disparate set of texts aimed at providing a regulatory framework — ethical and legal — for the use of AI systems. About a year after the Commission's proposal for harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence Act) European institutions are still facing difficulties in the legal understanding of this new technology.

Keyphrases: Artificial Intelligence, droit, ethics, European Union, intelligence artificielle, law, Regulation, Réglementation, Union européenne, Éthique
