This study aimed to analyze the knowledge of health promotion under the gaze of transvestites in Fortaleza. A qualitative study, conducted with transvestites in the center of Fortaleza, collected through participant observation and semi-structured interviews and non-participant, being organized and identified on the basis of content analysis. The speeches were listed in categories, which are: Meaning of health promotion attributed by transvestites; and perception of the methods used in the bodily changes. The recognition of the needs generated by transvestites in the context of health, at the same time that favors the promotion of health services, enables the awareness of the target audience about the safe practices and exposed vulnerabilities, causing the risks of contamination will decrease, thereby promoting healthy habits of prevention and respect their image.
