Positive Psychological Capital: A Positive Resource and Buffer for Academic Stress

Abstract

The current study tends to examine the role of Psychological Capital (also known as Psychological Capital) as a buffer against academic stress. Psychological Capital, an evidence based positive psychological resource, has been extensively investigated for positive organizational outcomes. The present inquiry extends this concept to the academic sector. Students are the fundamental agents of change and growth. Business students face a plethora of challenges, hence, encounter huge stress. Psychological Capital is proposed as a positive resource to combat academic stress. It is believed to empower students to overcome stressful negative situations. A cross-sectional sample is collected from 200 under-graduate students from a B-school from NCR. The study has used structural equation modelling (SEM) to understand the relationship between the study variables. The results show a negative association between academic stress and Psychological Capital. Analysis paves way for an increased effort for using Psychological Capital as a valuable positive resource for combating academic stress. The study concludes with implications for future research.
