Design of Dual-Band 2x2 MIMO Antenna System for 5G Wireless Terminals

EasyChair Preprint no. 8782

7 pagesDate: September 5, 2022

Abstract

The proposed MIMO antenna system consists of four elements with an angle of 90deg to each other, its operating at dual-band(28/38GHz) frequency. The proposed antenna obtains a simulated impedance bandwidth (S11 ≤ -10 dB) at 28.81GHz & 38.098 GHz for -15.83dB and -11.87dB respectively which allocated by Federal Communications Commission for the 5G applications. The MIMO antenna system can improve the capacity and transmission rates in a communication system. The design of such antenna with the help of simulation is important in visualization of the desired output/result and helps in achieving the required antenna results for future work. Simulation results help in analysis of some parameters such as return loss, an-tenna isolation & bandwidth, for the better performance requirements of the designed system. A low loss/cost substrate, RT/Duroid 5880 is used in designs. The Band width of this is MIMO is more than 1GHz for both operating frequencies.
