Abstract

The laboratory practices are important because they allow the student to explore their abilities, aptitudes and values from the construction of an approximate vision of science, not as a simple “scientific” activity but from the knowledge and exploration of the context. In the same way, it allows the student to question their previous knowledge and confront it with the reality where it puts their knowledge and that of the people around them at stake. The objective of this article was to identify trends in laboratory practices in chemistry education in the journal “Research in science education” during 2016-2021. The results allowed identifying four trends: interaction, effectiveness, perspectives and motivation / resistance, which show that research prevails on the role of laboratory practices for learning different concepts as well as the perspectives of teachers and students on their role. as precursors of a space open to change with variables that can mediate its effectiveness. As a conclusion, it can be said that in the investigated journal there is a prevailing trend related to the interactions that occur in the laboratory and their effectiveness in the teaching-learning process of natural sciences.
