Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities in Lodging Establishments in the Canton of Salinas

Abstract

In the Salinas canton is a sector of sun and beach tourist destinations with the highest rate of visits in Ecuador, since its attractions are of great interest, it is of interest the accessibility for people with disabilities in public establishments in the Salinas canton. One of the problems for my personal opinion that arise in those establishments is the deficiency that provides accommodation services including poor organization by managers. Since there are few establishments that provide that service with a ramp to improve a little stability for those people with wheelchairs, the managers of several establishments should meet to reach an agreement to improve the tourist service.

This type of research is qualitative and quantitative, the tools used to collect this information were interviews and surveys, and it is worth mentioning that this was only conducted with a very small group of people with disabilities and older adults. The objective is to understand in what conditions are the lodging establishments for the accessibility of people with disabilities in the establishments required by tourists. Within this research, certain limitations were presented that highlight a minimum compliance in the adequate infrastructure for people with disabilities and the elderly.

As a conclusion of this research we have the necessary study of the lodgings with accessibility for people with disabilities who visit the canton of Salinas, we can define what are the rates that apply in the rooms in these establishments taking into account how it is equipped or structured for these people.
